WELCOME BACK – MESSAGE FROM THE RECTORDear staff and students,
Best wishes for a Happy New Year, 2016 and welcome back to the second semester of the 2015/16 academic year. I hope you had a very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas holidays and ready to continue your journey in search of truth, knowledge and wisdom at the Spiritan University College, Ejisu.
As we begin the second semester, I wish to remind you of one of the things I told our 2015/2016 matriculants on Saturday, 24th October 2015:
“As a Catholic University, we have some core values that we cherish. They include honesty, integrity, truthfulness, discipline, Christian charity and a high level of morality. These values are set to achieve our mission and vision. They are non-negotiable.
The Students’ Handbook serves as a guide and contains all the information that a student needs to know about the University. These rules are not just cosmetic designs; they are meant to be obeyed. There are sanctions for violating them with a view to enforcing discipline in the system.
Discipline can be defined as the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior or using punishment to correct disobedience. A society without discipline is doomed to fail. We are often inclined not to follow laid down rules or codes of conduct. Discipline requires change of attitudes and rigorous enforcement of regulations” (8th Matriculation Address, 24th October 2015).
We have just celebrated the birth of Christ. Christ is the light which illumines the whole world. May the light of Christ transforms and enlighten our minds and hearts. May the new life of Christ renews us in transforming our society by the way we live our lives.
Happy New Year and welcome back! I wish you God’s blessing and a successful semester.
